The Black Lion can be found in the historic village of Appledore, which can trace is history back to Viking times back when it was a busy port.

Previously called the Red Lion, this popular establishment can be dated back to the early 1800's. Appledore is also the inspirational village for A A Mill's famous poem "The knight who's armour did not squeak"
